Attendance Policy

Clear Absences

Attendance

Good attendance is very important to be successful in school.  We request that parents send their children to school every day and on time, so that they may benefit from their educational experiences.  If your child is absent for illness or an appointment, please call the school office at 253-6420 before 10:00 a.m. or send a note with your child explaining the reason for the absence.  It is a state law that all children between the ages of 6 and 16 attend school.  If you are planning a trip, contact the school office to arrange for an Independent Study Contract a minimum of two weeks prior to the trip.

Tardies

Students are expected to arrive at school on time. It is disruptive to the teacher and students in the classroom when other students arrive late. In the event students arrive late, students should report to the office prior to reporting to class. Physician’s or dental appointments are examples of excused tardies. All other tardies are unexcused and may involve disciplinary action. Please schedule student appointments after school hours. Students with more than three/unexcused tardies in one semester will be considered a habitual truant as per California Education Code.
